Quzhou-Ningde Railway opens to traffic

The 379-kilometer Quzhou-Ningde Railway -- which starts in Quzhou, in East China's Zhejiang province and ends in the coastal city of Ningde, in Fujian province -- opens today, according to local media on Sept 27.

The line starts from the prefecture-level Quzhou city in Zhejiang and passes 30 stations -- including Suichang, Longquan and Qingyuan in the south. It crosses Baizhang Mountain into Fujian province and then passes through the counties of Songxi, Zhenghe, Pingnan, before moving on from the county of Zhouning, to the final destination of Ningde.

The train, with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour, has Chinese scholar trees green as its external background color, the same palette as a conventional speed train.

It is available in two models – one with nine short carriages that carries 720 passengers and one with 11-20 long carriages, with a capacity of 1,102 passengers.

Passengers can enjoy stunning scenic views and notable architecture along the way -- such as  the Longquan Railway Station in Longquan county, in Lishui, which covers an area of 7,798 sq m and features smooth architectural lines and a celadon-like textures.

Additionally, succulent cuisine and fresh seafood are available for foodies, according to rail officials.
