The 5th China (Zhejiang) She Ethnic Clothing Design Exhibition is held in Jingning She autonomous county in Lishui, Zhejiang province, on Sept 21.

Jingning She autonomous county in Lishui city, East China's Zhejiang province, has been successful in preserving its environment and traditional culture while developing a prosperous economy.

Disposable income per capita among Jingning's permanent residents in urban and rural areas was 40,014 yuan ($5,962) and 20,005 yuan, respectively, in 2019. These figures are 4.8 times and 6.5 times higher than in 2000.

Jingning's economic success is due to efforts by local authorities to promote agricultural products and cultural tourism.

Late-September was this year's harvest season for the 5000 mu (333 hectares) of cane shoot fields in Daji township. The cane shoots, growing at an altitude of around 1,000 meters, were immediately branded with the "Jingning 600" label and transported to places as far as Shanghai within a day of harvest. This year to date, Daji has earned 40 million yuan in cane shoot sales, up 15 percent year-on-year.

The "Jingning 600" brand, created by local authorities in 2017, is attached to all agricultural products made in mountainous villages with an elevation of at least 600 meters in Jingning. Currently, 105 types of foods share the same brand, quality requirements, packaging standards, and logistics network.

Jingning has opened dedicated marketing platforms and flagship stores for "Jingning 600" products across the Yangtze River Delta region, and the brand's cumulative sales are valued at 610 million yuan.

Jingning has also been taking advantage of its She ethnic cultural heritage to promote tourism – one of its most important industries.

On Sept 19, a cross-country race was held on Jingning's picturesque Chimu Mountain, attracting hundreds of fitness enthusiasts and thousands of tourists from across the YRD region. The racing course passed through a number of She ethnic villages.

Two days later, Jingning hosted the 5th China (Zhejiang) She Ethnic Clothing Design Exhibition.
