The new outlet of Dayin Bookmall in Taizhou's Jiaojiang district has become an immediate hit with the locals following its opening on a trial run basis on Feb 16.

The 2,000-square-meter bookstore, which is part of a renowned bookstore chain from Shanghai, has attracted more than 40,000 readers over eight days, official data shows.

The expression "Dayin" literally means "to hide in a busy place". The chain currently owns 13 brick-and-mortar bookstores and operates five public libraries.

The Taizhou outlet is located on Jiazhi Ancient Street and is the first opened by the company in East China's Zhejiang province.

The new outlet has a collection of over 80,000 books, over 200 domestic and foreign periodicals as well as no fewer than 5,000 cultural and creative products.

The outlet will function both as a commercial physical bookstore and a public welfare library.
