East China's Zhejiang province introduced 20 measures on June 10 to speed up the global expansion of its gaming industry, according to a document jointly issued by the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province and 16 other government departments.
The measures target four areas: industrial upgrading, platform support, ecosystem development, and resource assurance.
To raise industry capacity, the policy outlines a plan to build a province-wide gaming industry network led by Hangzhou and supported by cities such as Ningbo and Shaoxing. Zhejiang will establish export and trade bases and digital trade pilot zones to form a game-export industry cluster.
The province will encourage the development of original games with strong cultural value and the creation of popular franchises. It will support the production of flagship titles and AAA-level games that show global growth potential.
Game developers are encouraged to partner with smart device makers to bring content overseas alongside AR/VR headsets and motion-sensing consoles.
Zhejiang will help companies join key international trade exhibitions. The province also aims to attract major domestic and international esports events.
To improve the game export ecosystem, the measures call for streamlining product approval processes and strengthening intellectual property protection abroad.
Resource initiatives include attracting global talent and expanding workforce training programs.
