Taizhou footballer Wang Yudong was named the Best Young Player at the 2025 Chinese Football Super League awards ceremony on Dec 12.
Born in November 2006, Wang studied at Taizhou Xueyuan Road Primary School and Jiaojiang No 5 Middle School in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, before joining Taizhou Ostrich FC in June 2018. He was selected for China's U17 national team in 2019 and became a regular member of national teams at different age levels from 2021, while also training and playing with Zhejiang FC. Wang officially signed with Zhejiang FC in July 2023.
Wang was called up to the U20 national team in January 2025, scoring in all three pre-Asian Cup friendlies against Korea Yonsei University, Bangkok United U23, and Uzbekistan U20, helping the team achieve two wins and one draw.
In June 2025, he scored his first goal for the national team with a decisive penalty in the final round of the FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers against Bahrain, cementing his reputation as one of China's rising football talents.
