The official roster for China's national women's football team for the upcoming 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup has been announced, with Li Mengwen from Xianju county, Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, making the 26-player list. The team is set to depart for Australia to compete from March 1 to 21.
The competition features 12 nations divided into three groups of four. China has been drawn into Group B alongside North Korea, Uzbekistan, and Bangladesh. Under the tournament's rules, the top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the knockout rounds.
The 2026 Asian Cup will also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil, with the top six teams securing automatic entry.
Born in 1995 in Xianju, Li plays as both a fullback and midfielder. She began her career in 2006 at the Suzhou Sports School, then joined the Jiangsu team in 2009, and was selected for the national youth teams in 2010 and 2013. In July 2021, she became the first female footballer from Taizhou to represent China at the Tokyo Olympics.
