Asia's largest offshore dried seafood processing vessel, Hua Sheng Yu Jia 1, was successfully launched in Sanmen county, Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on March 4, under the full technical oversight of the Taizhou Fishing Vessel Inspection Center.
The 105-meter-long, 18-meter-wide, and 17.25-meter-high vessel was commissioned by Rui'an Huasheng Aquatic Products to replace the country's first offshore mobile processing ship, built in 2003.
With a total investment of 120 million yuan (about $17 million), the ship features three cold storage units totaling 2,600 cubic meters and three automated production lines with heat recovery systems. Each line can process up to 3 metric tons of dried seafood per hour.
The vessel is designed to process nearshore low-value catches, such as anchovies and small shrimp, immediately on board.
The Taizhou inspection center deployed an expert task force, led by senior inspectors with over 10 years of experience, to oversee 27 critical procedures, offering real-time guidance and flexible scheduling. This approach shortened the construction timeline by 15 percent.
The inspection center emphasized the need to continuously improve vessel quality and service efficiency to better support high-end fishing vessels and promote the sustainable development of the region's seafood industry.
