Taizhou Hongsi Hat Industry, a traditional straw hat manufacturer based in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, is expanding its presence in overseas markets by combining intangible cultural heritage techniques with modern design, highlighting the global reach of Chinese craftsmanship.

The company has specialized in handmade woven hats for more than 30 years and has brought local straw-weaving skills to markets in Europe and North America.

The company's products are rooted in Wenling straw weaving, a provincial-level intangible cultural heritage in Zhejiang known for its intricate weaving techniques and unique ethnic elements. By preserving traditional craftsmanship while integrating contemporary design, the company has expanded its international customer base.

Driven by growing demand, the company reported a 30 percent year-on-year increase in sales in the first quarter, with export orders already scheduled into early June. Production lines continue to operate at high capacity as finished hats undergo shaping, decoration, and quality checks before shipment.

The company plans to build a dedicated exhibition space for straw-weaving techniques and further promote the cultural value of Wenling craftsmanship through tourism and public cultural venues, aiming to increase the global visibility of the traditional craft while exploring new commercial channels.
