The "Trauma plus X" model developed by Tiantai People's Hospital of Zhejiang Province in Tiantai county, Taizhou, Zhejiang province, drew international attention after being presented at the Eighth World Trauma Congress held in Stockholm, Sweden, from April 26 to 28.

The three-day global event gathered nearly 2,000 medical experts to showcase the latest developments in trauma care.

The Tiantai team presented a localized model centered on trauma surgery and integrated with other key specialties and high-incidence conditions, referred to as "X". The model is designed as a modular and scalable framework for county hospitals, combining international practices such as trauma classification systems and regional care coordination with local healthcare conditions. It has already been applied in several county hospitals in Zhejiang, including Yuyao, a county-level city, and Xiangshan county in Ningbo.

To address fragmentation in emergency treatment pathways at the county level, Tiantai People's Hospital of Zhejiang Province has established an integrated system linking pre-hospital care, in-hospital emergency treatment, and intensive care units. This approach has reduced preoperative waiting times for emergency trauma surgery to less than one hour.

The hospital now treats around 20,000 trauma patients annually, with survival rates exceeding 95 percent for severe trauma cases and over 92 percent for unstable pelvic fractures.
