A qipao (traditional Chinese dress for women)-themed cultural and industrial event, Linhai Qipao Carnival, opened on May 30 in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, bringing together design showcases, industry partnerships, and livestream e-commerce activities aimed at helping the local garment sector expand into overseas markets.
The event is designed to upgrade the regional qipao industry by integrating culture, commerce, and tourism, while improving industrial efficiency and supporting rural income growth.
During the event, a logistics partnership was signed between ZTO Express and Linhai Qipao City to support online sales, while local enterprises formed an alliance to strengthen coordinated production and market development. A symbolic campaign mapping "Yongquan qipao" onto the world map was also introduced, reflecting efforts to expand its international reach.
Yongquan town in Taizhou is currently one of China's largest qipao production bases, with an annual output of more than 16 million pieces. Its products are exported to countries including the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Wang Qun, founder of the qipao brand Xizi, noted that qipao exports represent both product distribution and cultural exchange, as traditional designs continue to gain recognition in overseas markets.
The event also featured fashion runway shows, livestream sales sessions, and interactive activities for visitors. Additional initiatives, including short video campaigns and cultural performances, will be launched to maintain the industry's visibility and further strengthen its global brand presence.
