Taizhou, a coastal city in East China's Zhejiang province, held an exchange event on the development plan for the major projects related to the city's marine economy on July 7, as part of its efforts to tap into the potential of the marine economy.

Ten major marine economy projects, with a total investment nearing 15 billion yuan ($2.2 billion), were presented at the event. These projects, selected from the city's planned marine economy projects, span various sectors including port logistics, marine manufacturing, modern fisheries, and marine tourism, illustrating Taizhou's upgrade of its modern marine industrial system.

The projects presented are characterized by their wide coverage, long industrial chains, and emphasis on green, low-carbon development, technological innovation, and open cooperation.  

This year, Taizhou has been advancing towards its goal of becoming a leading city in the Yangtze River Delta region in land-sea opening-up and intelligent manufacturing, with the marine economy leading the charge. In the first quarter, the growth of the city's marine economy exceeded overall GDP growth by 1.6 percentage points, and the added value of the shipbuilding surged by 42.8 percent. A total of 100 projects have been included in the major projects for building a strong marine province, with an annual planned investment of 30.5 billion yuan.
