Rooted in Chinese civilization, Hehe culture emphasizes harmony without uniformity, mutual respect and cooperation. At Xingfu Huayuan community in Tiantai, these principles have been applied to the renovation of old residential areas and public services. Through consultation and shared governance, residents have helped improve their living environment and address community needs.
The forum also highlighted how Hehe principles are reflected in international cooperation. Six global cases were presented, including the story of Issah Abiola, also known by her Chinese name Bai Yang, a Nigerian woman who rose from an entry-level position at a Chinese engineering company to become her country's first female train driver, showcasing new opportunities created by China-Africa railway cooperation.
Cultural exchange was another focus. Spanish sinologist and translator Alicia Relinque Eleta has translated Chinese classics into Spanish, while artists from different cultural backgrounds have worked together through ceramics in Jingdezhen.
Participants said that by respecting differences, encouraging dialogue and seeking common ground, Hehe culture can offer insights into international cooperation and exchanges among civilizations.
