Services account for nearly 60 percent of Zhejiang's GDP in H1
Zhejiang's service sector generated 2.87 trillion yuan ($425.35 billion) in value added in the first half of 2026, up 5.5 percent year-on-year and accounting for 59.8 percent of the province's GDP.
From January to May, service enterprises above designated size reported revenue of 1.59 trillion yuan, excluding wholesale and retail, accommodation and catering, finance, and real estate development. Revenue rose 8.8 percent year-on-year, 2.2 percentage points above the national average.
Information transmission, software and information technology services, leasing and business services, and other sectors maintained double-digit growth, together contributing 8.4 percentage points to revenue growth among service enterprises above designated size.
Zhejiang had 11.57 million registered market entities by the end of June, including 9.48 million in the service sector, or 82 percent of the total.
Newly registered entities in finance, scientific research and technical services, information technology services, and culture, sports, and entertainment rose 35.6 percent, 20.5 percent, 16.3 percent, and 11.4 percent, respectively.
From January to May, revenue in culture, sports, and entertainment rose 21.1 percent, while household services, repairs, and other services grew 8.6 percent.
