John Richard Huber from the United States, first-prize winner of the "Experience Jinhua, Explore China" CityTalk International Communication Contest, has returned to Pujiang county in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, with his family to revisit the Zheng family (Zhengyimen), the subject of his winning work.
The Zheng family, who lived together for 15 generations across the Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties (960-1644) under 168 family rules, is world-renowned for its tradition of filial piety, righteousness, and honest family governance.
Huber's connection with the site dates back to 2016, when Pujiang's culture and tourism authorities commissioned him to shoot a promotional film. Zhengyimen left a deep impression, with Huber saying the family linked individual, family, and national destiny; a wisdom the world should know.
When he reached the finals, Zhengyimen was his first choice, which he thought could truly showcase China's cultural heritage and spread it to the world.
Huber considers Pujiang, the hometown of his wife, his second hometown. Feeling honored to help promote local culture, he said he will continue telling Pujiang's stories to the world.
