Jiangshan – a county-level city in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province – is experiencing a tourism boom, according to local officials.

They said Jiangshan received almost 21 million tourists from home and aboard in 2019, up 12.2 percent year-on-year and the tourism revenue last year reached 13.3 billion yuan ($1.97 billion), up 12.1 percent year-on-year.

"In the last half month in September, all of our 12 rooms have been filled up," said Zhou Chunwei, the host of a homestay, located at the foot of Jianglang Mountain in Shimen town in Jiangshan.

"Some tourists come from places like Anhui province and Shanghai and some come from Kaihua and Longyou counties in Quzhou," Zhou added.

In 1987, Jiangshan established a company for Jianglang Mountain's development and construction.

In August 2010, the Jianglang Mountain Scenic Area was added to the list of World Heritage Sites, becoming the first world natural heritage site in Zhejiang Province.

In February 2017, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced a new batch of 5A tourist attractions, with the Jianglang Mountain Scenic Area on the list.

Officials said that last year, a total of 2.6 billion yuan was invested in the tour-related projects along six quality routes and 60 villages on the routes were upgraded to be scenic spots.

In addition, efforts were made to connect the 148 scenic spots and villages scattered across the routes in Jiangshan.

Furthermore, Jiangshan has also hosted more than 60 national and international events, including the National Weightlifting Championships and National Aerobics Championships.
