Quzhou-born painter Wu Quantang recently visited Europe and held personal exhibitions in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and other countries.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held in Lille, France. More than 200 artists from China and France attended the cultural exchange event.

The exhibited works are mainly themed on nostalgia, flowers and birds.

"This exhibition is also a special presentation and a kind of feedback on my personal painting and creation path, "said Wu Quantang.

In the late 1990s, he was invited to hold a two-month personal exhibition and cultural exchange activity in France. At that time, he was inspired by many French rural paintings.

"I was born in Quzhou, Zhejiang. The Hui-styled dwellings are not only a Chinese cultural symbol but also my most familiar creative theme. I can learn from Western painting techniques to create fine paintings with classical oriental aesthetic implications and show China's image," added Wu.

Wu's rural paintings are highly sought after by overseas artists and more than 30 pieces were collected by individuals and art institutions during his exhibitions.

In addition, Wu was hired as a China-France cultural exchange ambassador and won the EU-China Cultural Exchange Contribution Award, promoting friendly cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.
