Quzhou GI products shine at China Intellectual Property Annual Conference

The 14th China Intellectual Property Annual Conference was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing on Sept 11 and 12, and special geographical indication products from Quzhou in Zhejiang province were displayed at the exhibition area.

On show were Quzhou's GI products with a distinct identity linked to their regions, including Longyou steamed rice cakes, Changshanhuyou tangelo, and Changshan camellia oil.

In recent years, Quzhou has effectively integrated its rich cultural heritage, excellent ecological resources, and solid industrial base to promote the cultivation and development of GI products.

By the end of 2024, Quzhou had developed 41 GI trademarks and products, with a total output value reaching 16 billion yuan ($2.25 billion).

Quzhou's GI trademarks and products have boosted the development of local industries, benefiting over 40,000 farming households and increasing their annual income by more than 5,000 yuan per household.

The conference, themed on "Intellectual Property in the Digital Age", attracted over 8,000 representatives from 43 countries and regions worldwide.

During the event, a senior Quzhou official delivered a keynote speech on the innovative practices of integrating geographical indications to empower industrial development and boost local economic growth, sharing the city's positive experiences with the audience.
