Yanjiayu Island, a key part of the Quzhou Ancient City Cultural Tourism Zone located in Quzhou city, East China's Zhejiang province, started trial operations on Sept 26.

Located at the confluence of three rivers in Quzhou's main urban area, the tourist destination is the nation's first Southern Confucianism-themed island, quickly becoming a new hotspot for local leisure and entertainment.

Southern Confucianism, rooted in Quzhou, represents a unique branch of Confucian thought in China, highlighting the enduring legacy of Confucius.

The small island features key attractions such as the Ruxian Flower Sea, the Youyou Pet Zone, the Nankong Luojia Forest Park, and a themed street.

On the opening day, the Nankong Luojia Forest Park drew major crowds. Visitors also flocked to the Youyou Pet Zone, which is home to over 20 animal species. Meanwhile, the themed street offered visitors local culinary delicacies and cultural products.

Zheng Jie, general manager of Quzhou Nankong Luojia Tourism Development, said that the island would feature five themed parades and performances centered on Southern Confucianism, offering interactive and immersive cultural experiences.

Spanning about 1 square kilometer, with a total investment of 942 million yuan ($129.88 million), the Yanjiayu Island project integrates ecological preservation with cultural experience and tourism.
