Quzhou shines at cultural industries fair in Shenzhen
Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province is showcasing the innovative development of its cultural industry at the 22nd China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair, which runs from May 21 to 25 in Shenzhen, Guangdong province.
Quzhou's traditional Kaihua paper, recognized as a provincial intangible cultural heritage, is being showcased alongside ancient books in the Wenrun Study area.
Once a prestigious material for royal manuscripts, Kaihua paper now plays a vital role in restoring national antiquities and serves as the medium for Fudan University's acceptance letters.

Another highlight is Longyou handmade paper, listed as a cherished national intangible cultural heritage in 2011, which uses tree bark as its raw material. Revered by artists, this time-honored handmade paper remains a staple for calligraphy and painting, embodying resilience and everyday utility.
In a quieter corner of the fair, the art of root carving from Kaihua Genyuan Town whispers a tale of discovery and creation. Artisans transform natural tree roots into artistic pieces, turning natural resources into cultural commodities.
Kayou, China's largest collectible card maker with a production base in Quzhou's Kaihua county, is also offering anime cards and trendy toys at its booth.
By building workshops in Kaihua, this company is transforming its brand influence into a new engine that increases local jobs and boosts regional economic growth.
