The Short Drama Cultural Park in Qujiang district, Quzhou, Zhejiang province, is set to open by the end of the year.
A short drama is an episodic television series, with each episode lasting from a few seconds to more than 10 minutes. It is designed for online viewing on mobile devices.
The park will focus on filming, production, and cultural tourism, fully meeting the needs of short drama production, especially for works featuring traditional Chinese culture, while also offering visitors an immersive cultural experience.
Construction began in November 2024 on the site of the former Han and Tang Commercial Street, backed by an investment of more than 500 million yuan ($73.59 million). The park has a total floor area of 33,000 square meters, and 75 percent of the construction has already been completed.
The project is designed to build a comprehensive industrial ecosystem for short dramas, covering talent recruitment, content production, technical support, and marketing. It will create a distinctive entrepreneurial hub in western Zhejiang and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of Qujiang's cultural tourism industry.
Materials such as custom-made bracket supports from Hubei province, tiles from Shaanxi province, and lacquer from Indonesia have been meticulously selected to ensure that the buildings embody both traditional beauty and modern durability.
