Qianjiangyuan National Forest Park in Kaihua county, Quzhou, Zhejiang province, has rescued 1,382 wild animals since 2019, reflecting its strong commitment to wildlife conservation.

This year alone, 22 animals, all classified as national second-class protected species, have been saved.

On June 10, park officials informed Ms Fang from Kaihua's Changhong township about the successful release of a rescued silver pheasant into the wild. The bird, a national second-class protected species, had wandered into her home while foraging. Thanks to her timely action and the park's efficient rescue process, the healthy bird was safely returned to its natural habitat. Ms Fang received a 500-yuan ($73.78) reward under the park's interim wildlife rescue reward scheme.

Qianjiangyuan is a biodiversity hotspot, home to 2,234 plant species, 2,427 animal species, and 449 types of large fungi. Among these are one national first-class protected plant species and 34 national second-class protected plant species, as well as four first-class and 55 second-class protected animal species.

The park's management has partnered with local authorities to enhance conservation efforts through smart monitoring networks, ecological policing, and community co-management mechanisms.

Public engagement is bolstered through educational campaigns and incentives like the wildlife rescue reward system and public liability insurance for wildlife incidents.

By fostering community involvement in conservation, Qianjiangyuan National Forest Park continues to protect its diverse and rare species, ensuring their survival for future generations.
