More than 30 international students, scholars, and faculty members from 15 countries took part in the 2026 "Experiencing China" International Youth Study Camp in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, where they explored the city's blend of traditional culture and modern life from June 29 to July 4.
During the six-day program, participants visited the Family Temple of Confucius in Quzhou, home to the southern branch of Confucius' descendants, where they took part in a ceremony honoring the ancient philosopher and learned about the over 800-year history of Southern Confucianism.
They also learned stone-rubbing techniques at the Chinese Confucianism Museum, explored the Archaeological Site Museum of Gumie State, made ceramics at a local porcelain studio, played weiqi (the ancient Chinese board game) at Lanke Mountain World Weiqi Park, and experienced rural life through painting and bamboo weaving in Yudong village.

Jiang Tuhang, a participant from Myanmar, said the Family Temple of Confucius in Quzhou felt unique because it is still cared for by Confucius' descendants.
Scott Chapman Walker from the United States said Quzhou stood out from many historic Chinese cities he had visited because its historical architecture, cultural heritage, and modern development coexist naturally.
