Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province ranked first in the 2021 evaluation of national healthy city development conducted by the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee, local media reported on Oct 11.

The committee evaluated 407 cities and districts in all prefecture-level administrative divisions across the country. A total of 30 cities and districts won the title of 2021 national healthy city development model city, and Jiaxing ranked first.

In 2021, the average life expectancy in the city was 82.68, ranking highly in the province.

The city's health literacy level, which refers to an individual's ability to access and understand health information and use it to maintain and promote their own health, reached 39.36 percent in 2021.

In addition, Jiaxing is the first city to achieve full coverage of provincial health towns, and the proportion of national health towns ranks first in the province.
