Every October to November marks the harvest season for the Hang white chrysanthemum, or hangbaiju in Chinese, which is a unique variety hailing from Tongxiang, a county-level city in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province.
For over 300 years, Tongxiang has stood as a prominent producer of this particular variety, earning it the reputation as the "Hometown of Chinese Hang White Chrysanthemum".
This variety of chrysanthemum is distinguished by its delightful sweetness and medicinal properties. Renowned for its detoxifying attributes, white chrysanthemum tea is traditionally believed to promote liver health and improve eyesight. With the surging global interest in Chinese medicinal traditions, Hangzhou white chrysanthemum has captured the hearts of consumers abroad.
Recent statistics reveal that in the first 11 months of this year, Jiaxing exported over 1,024 metric tons of Hang white chrysanthemum, marking a substantial 22 percent increase year-on-year.
