Tongxiang, a county-level city in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, was selected in the list of pilot counties for innovative development in inbound tourism on April 21, becoming the only included area in Jiaxing.

Tongxiang has focused on the deep integration of culture and tourism in recent years, creating local cultural brands such as Wuzhen Scenic Area and Puyuan Fashion Resort in Puyuan town. Initiatives like the Wuzhen Theatre Festival and Puyuan Fashion Week have attracted international visitors and boosted the promotion and influence of inbound tourism.

From January to March this year, Wuzhen Scenic Area and Puyuan Fashion Resort in Puyuan Town collectively welcomed 68,300 inbound tourists, a 143.93 percent increase year-on-year.

Beyond cultural attractions, Tongxiang benefits from its strategic location at the heart of the Yangtze River Delta region, adjacent to Shanghai, a key entry point for inbound tourism. To connect it better with cities like Shanghai and Hangzhou, Tongxiang has established direct transportation lines from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport to Wuzhen Scenic Area, facilitating international visitor travel.

Wuzhen Scenic Area, serving as a pilot for inbound facilitation services, now features seven foreign currency exchange points, offering diverse services like tourist information and guidance to inbound travelers.

Moving forward, Tongxiang plans to intensify overseas tourism promotion, accelerate the establishment of international cultural exchange hubs and world-class tourist destinations, and utilize inbound tourism as a catalyst for Tongxiang's tourism development leap.
