The Dongsha Bay of Pinghu Jiulongshan Tourist Resort in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, launched its first open-sea waterplay camp on July 19, drawing summer crowds to Dongsha Bay.

The phase one of the open-sea waterplay camp was built with an investment of about 25 million yuan ($2.78 million), featuring ecological upgrades to a former iron-sand beach and yacht harbor.

Situated between mountains and sea, the Dongsha Bay covers around 20 hectares, including 2.67 hectares of soft sand and 17.33 hectares of clear, flowing seawater. The water enters from Xisha Bay, travels through internal channels for natural sedimentation, and exits through the Dongsha Bay gate, maintaining its clarity.

The beach offers zones of varying depth. The 1.2 to 1.8-meter area is ideal for families and children, while deeper sections from 1.8 to 2.2 meters are designed for water sports.

Activities include paddleboarding, water bicycles, kayaking, obstacle courses, and beach track vehicles. Amenities such as a visitor center, hot showers, and restrooms are in place, and nearby coffee shops and barbecue stations create a lively atmosphere.

During its trial period from July 19 to Oct 19, weekday tickets are priced at 20 yuan per person and 30 yuan on weekends and holidays, with free access to Jiulongshan Park included.

Local food vendors from nearby Zhapu port area have also joined, offering snacks and coupons, making the beach an attractive destination for extended summer visits.
