Jiaxing offers splash-filled summer escape
As temperatures soar across East China, Jiaxing in Zhejiang province has become a popular summer retreat, offering water-themed traditions to help visitors cool off.
The Wuzhen scenic area and Puyuan ancient town in Jiaxing have revived their unique versions of the "Splash Festival", attracting both locals and tourists.
Wuzhen's Xizha Street transforms into a "cool street" from July 5 to Aug 31. The area now hosts daily splash sessions at 5 pm, 6 pm, and 7 pm. Water mist rises as participants, armed with bamboo-made water guns and wooden ladles, engage in lively street water battles reminiscent of childhood games.

The Puyuan ancient town has also brought back summer memories with its "street washing" and water play activities. From July 5 to Aug 24, water games are held hourly from noon to 4 pm and continue non-stop from 5 pm to 9 pm.
