Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province is experiencing rapid growth in emerging industries, with new technologies and production taking the city to the forefront of Zhejiang's industrial landscape, according to data released on Aug 23.

At Rept Battero Energy Co Ltd's base in Jiashan county, Jiaxing, A4-sized battery cells for heavy trucks are rolling off production lines for global delivery. The upgraded 324Ah Pro Battery Cell, released in May, offers improved endurance, fast charging, and cost efficiency. Three lines are already operating at full capacity.

From January to July, Jiaxing's strategic emerging industries recorded an industrial output of 71.39 billion yuan ($9.97 billion), ranking third in the province and accounting for 43.4 percent of the output of enterprises above designated size — enterprises with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan. The new materials sector of enterprises above designated size reached 21.9 billion yuan, and the new energy sector reached 18.36 billion yuan, both the highest in Zhejiang.

In Haining, a county-level city in Jiaxing, a workshop of Zhejiang Naiteng produced nearly 500 new energy light trucks this year, with hundreds more on order. The four-year-old firm has built a comprehensive supply chain covering logistics vehicles, smart chassis, and lithium battery systems, while expanding into Europe with 15 battery-swap stations, set to grow to 50 next year.

With 15 projects receiving provincial funding this year, Jiaxing is deepening industrial clusters and aiming to strengthen competitiveness and expand advanced manufacturing capacity.
