Berlin Girls Choir performs Chinese classics in Jiaxing

Located in Haining, a county-level city in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, Yanguan Ancient City hosted the Berliner Madchenchor, also known as the Berlin Girls Choir, for its first China performance on Aug 27. 

The event offered a unique blend of Western choral artistry and Chinese classics such as Mo Li Hua (Jasmine Flower). 

Yanguan Ancient City, renowned for tide watching, regularly attracts music festivals and concerts, drawing audiences and bands from around the world. This summer, the ancient city featured a series of events, including a youth music show, the China-Germany Beethoven Youth Art Exhibition, and percussion art weeks.

Founded in 2015, the Berliner Madchenchor has rapidly become one of Germany's top female vocal ensembles, winning national choir competitions and receiving the Opus Klassik award in 2020.

Led by renowned conductor Sabine Wuesthoff, the choir combines physical training with creative rehearsal techniques and received the Mendelssohn Medal, granted by Chorverband Berlin.

Following the summer program, Yanguan Ancient City aims to build a year-round, cross-cultural music ecosystem that blends the natural spectacle of the tides with musical performances, cultivating a global, accessible music city for audiences of all ages.
