Jiaxing economy expands 5.2% in Q1-Q3

The economy of Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has continued to grow steadily, with its GDP reaching 565.81 billion yuan ($79.67 billion) in the first three quarters of 2025, up 5.2 percent year-on-year.
The city's service sector expanded 6.3 percent, accounting for nearly half of total GDP, led by strong gains in information transmission, software, and IT services, which surged 27.2 percent, underscoring the continued shift in Jiaxing's industrial structure toward innovation-driven growth.
In manufacturing, value-added output from high-tech industries, digital economy manufacturing, and equipment manufacturing grew by 11.7 percent, 8.8 percent, and 7.8 percent, respectively.
Domestic demand also played a key role, as retail sales of consumer goods climbed 7.1 percent to 216.7 billion yuan, ranking first in the province. Sales of wearable devices, smartphones, and home appliances saw double- and triple-digit growth, while new energy vehicle sales jumped 26.3 percent. Online retail sales by major enterprises grew 50.2 percent.
Private enterprises have continued to energize local growth. Rural residents' per capita disposable income reached 45,337 yuan, the highest in the province and up 4.6 percent year-on-year. Low-income farmers saw their incomes rise 10.1 percent, reflecting progress toward shared prosperity.
Jiaxing Port's container throughput grew 18.8 percent, leading all coastal ports in the province and contributing to a solid foundation for the city's continued economic improvement.
