Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province inaugurated a new children's hospital on Dec 5, filling a gap in advanced pediatric care in the northern part of the province.

Located within Jiaxing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital, the new institution integrates medical services, health management, teaching, research, and rehabilitation. The first phase opens 300 beds and strengthens clusters such as neonatology, pediatric surgery, and child health, while expanding subspecialties, including pediatric intensive care, respiratory medicine, and gastroenterology, to provide complete services for children.

Jiaxing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital, one of the city's largest neonatal treatment centers, provides a strong foundation for the new facility. It receives more than 500,000 pediatric visits each year and accounts for over 40 percent of the city's newborn deliveries. Its critical-care success rate for neonatal cases exceeds 98 percent.

To better coordinate regional pediatric resources, the hospital has launched a pediatric specialty alliance composed of 33 medical institutions citywide.

The hospital has also signed a cooperation agreement with the Children's Hospital of Fudan University and unveiled two expert studios led by its specialist teams. Joint development will focus on five key disciplines, including pediatric intensive care and neurology, helping Jiaxing enhance its capacity to manage severe, complex, and rare pediatric conditions.
