Darmstadt-Dieburg, located in southern Hesse, Germany, covers an area of 658 square kilometers with a population of around 290,000, and is about 100 km from Frankfurt Airport, making it a transportation hub.
The region is known for its strong international trade and logistics industries and is a key wine distribution center. Its technology and biotechnology sectors are highly regarded in Germany, with the chemical and pharmaceutical giant Merck headquartered here.
Since 1995, the area's Messel Pit Fossil Site, a cultural landmark, has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Additionally, the region's Technical University of Darmstadt is among the world's top technical universities.
