Lu Rongjie, a deputy to the National People's Congress and Party secretary of Miaojia village in Dayun town, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, brought his understanding of the challenges rural areas face in attracting young talent to the national two sessions, which is being held from March 4 to 12.

Lu said that for rural development to succeed, attracting talent and engaging youth is essential, with the local government in Dayun town taking steps such as creating markets for young entrepreneurs to stimulate growth.

Lu acknowledges that while these measures are just the beginning, much remains to be done to ensure young people not only come to rural areas but also thrive there. This year, he raised the topic of supporting youth entering rural areas, urging the government to focus on improving employment and entrepreneurship policies.

He emphasized the need for enhanced policies and infrastructure, particularly for rural youth and college graduates, to ensure they have the opportunities and support to succeed.

In his view, the goal is not just to bring young people to rural areas, but to ensure they can build careers, lead fulfilling lives, and realize their potential.

With more support for entrepreneurship and infrastructure, Lu is confident that rural areas can offer young people the opportunities they need to thrive and contribute to rural development.
