At Jiaxing Urtopia, a company based in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, workers are busy assembling the latest electric-assist bicycles, which will soon be shipped to the United States.
Chen Weimin, the company's vice-president, said their products sold out in the US before Chinese New Year, and the factory has continued to operate through the weekends to meet demand.
Urtopia's e-bikes — especially its flagship Carbon1 Pro — have gained significant traction, even in the luxury bike market, with a price tag of $2,199. The Carbon1 Pro is praised for its 45 percent lighter carbon fiber frame, which is stronger than traditional aluminum frames.
Despite its integrated motor, battery, and electronic systems, the bike remains lighter and more efficient, delivering a smooth pedal-assist experience that helps riders climb hills with ease. Its advanced features include a 4G-enabled GPS, smart voice recognition, and AI integration with tools like ChatGPT, giving riders a fully connected experience.
The lineup also includes a foldable model, the Carbon Fold 2, weighing just 11 kilograms, easy to store, with a long-lasting battery that covers up to 100 kilometers.
Behind the success of these bikes is Urtopia's rapid global expansion, with over 1,000 physical stores now operating in the US. The company plans to double that number this year.
