Jiaxing's import and export value reached 132.57 billion yuan ($19.37 billion) in the first quarter, up 12.8 percent year-on-year. Total retail sales of consumer goods hit about 79.62 billion yuan, rising 7.0 percent and ranking first in growth rate across the province.

Foreign trade was notably driven by ASEAN markets. In the first quarter, Jiaxing's trade with ASEAN totaled 39.35 billion yuan, up 60.4 percent year-on-year and accounting for nearly 30 percent of total trade. Exports of electrical control equipment and lithium batteries grew by 2.1 times and 1.7 times, respectively.

Logistics efficiency also improved, with Jiaxing Port optimizing shipping routes to Vietnam and the Mediterranean, significantly reducing transport costs and increasing throughput. Cargo and container volumes rose 29.11 percent and 34.09 percent year-on-year, respectively.

On the domestic front, consumption growth was driven by event-based promotions, experiential retail, and rural spending. Shopping festivals, sports events, and themed markets boosted foot traffic, while rural retail grew 8.2 percent year-on-year, outpacing urban areas. New consumption policies and product upgrades, including electronics and home appliances, further supported demand.

Coordinated efforts across trade expansion, logistics improvement, and consumption stimulation have strengthened Jiaxing's overall economic vitality.
