Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province attracted $1.98 billion in actual foreign investment in the first half of this year, up 4.2 percent year-on-year and ranking second in Zhejiang and first among the province's prefecture-level cities.
Much of this growth comes from existing investors expanding their operations. Foreign-funded companies contributed $851 million through additional investment, accounting for more than 40 percent of the total. Companies including Italy's Independent Salumi Union, Germany's Wurth Group, and France's Forvia increased investment, expanded production, or upgraded local facilities, reflecting continued confidence in Jiaxing.
The city also attracted new projects in strategic industries such as new energy, new materials, and the low-altitude economy. High-tech industries accounted for $925 million in foreign investment, with 27 foreign-invested companies each receiving an investment of more than $10 million.
Jiaxing has supported investment growth by strengthening business services, having already held 20 roundtable meetings with foreign enterprises, conducting more than 200 company visits, and launching a one-stop service center offering over 200 international business services this year. It has also streamlined visa support and expanded tax incentives for eligible foreign-invested projects.
The city plans to build on its base of more than 5,000 foreign-invested enterprises by encouraging reinvestment from existing companies while attracting new international technology and innovation projects through targeted investment programs.
