A one-stop carbon footprint service platform in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has introduced a visualization function that makes complex carbon emissions data easier for businesses to understand and use.

The upgrade converts carbon footprint accounting data into interactive visual reports, helping improve data transparency, as well as simplifying analysis and identifying clearer pathways for emissions reduction. It also provides digital support for the green and low-carbon transformation of local industries.

The Jiaxing Carbon Footprint One-Stop Service Platform uses digital technology to transform complex carbon accounting data into standardized, interactive reports. Businesses can scan a QR code to view or download a report with one click.

The reports include key indicators, the structure of carbon emissions throughout a product's life cycle, accounting boundaries and methodologies, emissions hotspots among major components, and targeted recommendations for emissions reduction. Data is presented through charts and other visual formats, lowering the barriers and costs for businesses to access and apply carbon footprint information.

A carbon footprint assessment of GGD low-voltage switchgear product from Huayu Electric Power Equipment Co in Tongxiang, a county-level city in Jiaxing, provides an example of the platform's visualization capabilities. The analysis shows that 99.88 percent of the product's carbon footprint comes from raw material and component acquisition and manufacturing, particularly copper, steel, cabinets, circuit breakers and capacitors. Emissions from in-house production and transportation together account for just 0.12 percent of the total.

The findings show that emissions reductions cannot focus solely on energy efficiency within factories. Instead, greater attention needs to be paid to green management across the supply chain, where most of the product's emissions originate.

State Grid Jiaxing Power Supply Co said it will continue to optimize the platform, improve its localized carbon emission factor database, and expand its visualization functions. The company will also use the platform's digital capabilities to help businesses conduct more precise carbon assessments and implement emissions reduction measures, supporting Jiaxing's efforts to advance its dual-carbon goals.
