More than 30 young lawmakers, officials, and youth organization leaders from 11 European countries visited Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, on Sept 19 as part of a China-Europe youth leaders training and exchange camp.

The group visited the Nanhu Revolutionary Memorial Hall and its Hubin Branch, learning about the May Fourth Movement and its impact on Chinese society. Raphael Lefourestier, a councilor from Biarritz, France, said young people in China and France share a sense of responsibility for and a role in social development, despite their different historical backgrounds.

They also visited an exhibition on Jiaxing's implementation of the "Eight-Eight Strategy". Elena-Alexandra Miron, a member of Romania's delegation to the UN Climate Change Conferences, said the exhibition gave her a more concrete understanding of the strategy. She added that Jiaxing's use of modern transport infrastructure, such as high-speed rail, to strengthen urban-rural links left a strong impression on her.

The group also attended a China-Europe youth leaders' dialogue in Hangzhou on Sept 20, which focused on China-Europe relations and common challenges.
