Shengzhou bamboo weaving is one of the traditional handicrafts in Shengzhou, a county-level city in Shaoxing in Zhejiang province. The bamboo weaving technology is distributed in the bamboo producing areas of the city, including urban areas, Cangyan, Changle, Chongren, Huangzhe and other areas.

During the Wei and Jin dynasties (220-420), the people of Shengzhou began to use bamboo to weave items for use in daily life. In the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, bamboo weaving technology was improved, and bamboo woven baskets became an indispensable daily item for people.

Later, bamboo woven items were also kept as ornamental items. Items such as goose-shaped baskets, duck-shaped pans and chicken-shaped pots were just some of the highlights of the bamboo weaving craft in Shengzhou.

With more than 200 weaving techniques, Shengzhou's bamboo industry now provides 3,000 kinds of weaving products in 12 categories, including baskets, pots, trays and pans.

With its bamboo craft popular with customers at home and abroad, Shengzhou bamboo weaving enjoys a reputation as being the best in the world. Its technological level, product quality, production capacity and equipment are second to none. Many fine craft pieces have been given to heads of foreign countries as national gifts.

In 2006, Shengzhou bamboo weaving was included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage.
