Training regarding senior citizens' daily use of smart devices and services will be included in Shaoxing's elderly education, local media reported on Feb 27.

The city's Keqiao district announced on April 1 that the district will provide this training to over 15,000 senior citizens by the end of 2022.

Local authorities said that the district is home to over 160,000 senior citizens aged 60 or above. The district has opened eight training classes, with about 250 students currently studying.

The use of smart devices brings convenience and happiness to seniors when buying tickets, hailing taxis, and having video chats.

From this year, the city will carry out training programs in adult schools, vocational schools, and elderly universities.

To address senior's learning abilities, the programs will focus on their needs and develop different dialect editions to increase their participation rate.

It was reported that at least 10 educational videos and six textbooks will be designed, with successful ones to be promoted to other cities.
