Shaoxing athlete Zhen Weijie will compete at the men's team ski jumping event of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games on Feb 14.

Born in Xinchang county, 2003, Zhen became a member of the national ski jumping team in 2018. He has been training across Europe since 2019.

The national team manager Xu Gaohang said he has high hopes for the Shaoxing athlete during an open training session on Jan 28.

Ski jumping has been a key fixture of the Winter Olympics ever since making its debut at the inaugural Winter Games in 1924 at Chamonix, France. The sport has produced numerous iconic Olympic moments through the year.

"I think the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics will introduce the Chinese ski jumpers to the world and hopefully we can also make our mark," said team manager Xu.
