Shaoxing holds CPC congress

Shaoxing in East China's Zhejiang province held the city's 9th Congress of the Communist Party of China from Feb 28 to March 2.

Sheng Yuechun, Party secretary of Shaoxing, gave an report on Shaoxing's development over the past five years and the city's goals and plans for the coming five years.

Sheng said that the city will focus on five aspects in the coming years: developing smart manufacturing, expanding domestic and international cooperation, moving towards common prosperity, improving the living environment, and enhancing governance efficiency.

The GDP of Shaoxing in East China's Zhejiang province reached 679.5 billion yuan ($106.89 billion) in 2021, up 8.7 percent year-on-year.

Imports and exports were valued at 299.3 billion yuan, up 16.1 percent year-on-year.

The city approved 216 foreign-invested projects and received $759.29 million in investments in 2021.

The city registered 30,600 enterprises and 69,900 self-employed entrepreneurs. By the end of December, the city was home to 680,700 market entities, up 3.9 percent year-on-year.

Shaoxing's per capita disposable income for the year was 62,509 yuan, up 10.4 percent year-on-year.

The congress was attended by 474 Party members who were on behalf of the city's 5.34 million residents and over 370,000 Party members.
