The market regulation bureau of Yuecheng district, Shaoxing issued the first fine under Zhejiang province's new regulations on takeout food production and delivery on March 1.

According to the bureau, a provincewide campaign is taking place in March and April to determine if the regulations are being followed. Those who fail to adhere to the rules will be fined and their names announced to the public.

The new regulations mandate the use of single-use seals that meet specific standards on all takeout packages. The commonly used tapes and staples are no longer acceptable.

A courier can decline a delivery order if the package is not intact or if the seal is broken. Customers can also decline accepting food that is not sealed appropriately.

An officer of the bureau said that they will increase supervision efforts to ensure food safety.

"Zheshilian", a digital food tracing system launched in Zhejiang last year, has by far been applied by the food industry. Consumers in the province are now able to immediately view a food product's delivery inspection report, sample survey, quality certificate, disinfection certificate, and other information by scanning codes printed on its package.
