The establishment of the Xu Wei Research Association was announced in Shaoxing on March 12 to commemorate the 502nd anniversary of the birth of Xu Wei.

Xu, who lived during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), was a scholar of exceptional talent and was renowned for his proficiency in writing, painting, calligraphy, drama, and strategizing.

The non-profit association aims to further promote the cultural heritage of Shaoxing and deepen the study of the scholar's works and contributions.

"The research on Xu's legacy has been scattered and unsystematic for a long time," noted Liu Mengda, president of the Xu Wei Research Association."We need a platform that allows for collaboration, exchange, and dissemination of Xu's cultural heritage."
