Twenty students and faculty from Lincoln University College in Malaysia recently completed a 10-day immersion program in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, exploring traditional Chinese medicine and culture.

Hosted by Shaoxing Vocational and Technical College, the exchange marked the first project launched under its newly approved China-Malaysia Yueyi Medicine Academy initiative.

Through workshops and lectures, the group studied core TCM practices including moxibustion, guasha, tuina, and acupuncture. They crafted herbal sachets and prepared medicinal meals, gaining practical insight into TCM's everyday applications.

In addition to medical training, participants studied conversational Chinese and practiced calligraphy, tracing the strokes of a living tradition. Site visits to Lu Xun Native Place and Shaoxing Rice Wine Town deepened their understanding of the city's cultural heritage.

The program also featured academic exchange in nursing. Chinese and Malaysian students attended joint skills sessions. Doctor Smitha Poovathinkal Madhavan with Lincoln University College delivered a lecture titled Nursing Futures: Educate and Elevate to promote global dialogue in healthcare education.

"The Malaysian students brought a spirit of openness that energized our campus," said Song Xin, a TCM instructor at the college. "Their interest in Chinese medicine supports the wider sharing of our cultural traditions."
