Shaoxing cross-border e-commerce hits record high
Shaoxing's cross-border e-commerce sector achieved a record high in transaction volume for the same period in history during the first five months of 2025.
According to the municipal bureau of commerce, the total transaction value of cross-border e-commerce on six major platforms — including Amazon and Alibaba — reached 9.857 billion yuan ($1.38 billion), marking a year-on-year increase of 4.73 percent.
Cross-border e-commerce is emerging as a new growth engine for Shaoxing enterprises, with a rising number shifting from the domestic market to international channels. Shaoxing Yagu Homeware, a company specializing in blankets, began exploring direct-to-customer cross-border business in July last year. Within two months, during the peak sales season, its daily orders for flannelette products surged from zero to 300–400, significantly boosting profits.
Currently, the number of Shaoxing-based stores on mainstream platforms exceeds 6,500. Local companies account for half of the top 10 Amazon sellers in Zhejiang. The sector's agglomeration effect is taking shape, with well-known hubs such as the Shaoxing Keqiao China Textile City Cross-border E-commerce Industrial Park.
Industrial clusters — including Keqiao textiles and Zhuji pearls — have been recognized as provincial-level pilot zones for cross-border e-commerce. The customs supervision site in Keqiao district supports multi-modal export clearance for Shaoxing goods.
Meanwhile, Shaoxing is expanding digital trade infrastructure. The newly launched Shaoxing Ronghang Digital Trade Port in Yuecheng district, focused on cross-border e-commerce, has already secured over 30 enterprises.
The e-commerce center in the Shaoxing Comprehensive Bonded Zone has also attracted more than 30 businesses, handling over 6.6 million cross-border orders between January and May — a year-on-year increase of 171 percent.
