Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, has added three more local agricultural products to the second batch of China's national list of specialty and premium farm goods for 2025.
The newly listed items are Huishan water bamboo from Xinchang county, and both honey peaches and bayberries from Shangyu district. The additions bring the city's total to 13 national-level specialty products, covering tea, fruits and nuts, forming a strong mix of established and emerging brands.
Huishan water bamboo benefits from high-altitude growing conditions, with more than 3,000 mu (200 hectares) under cultivation and an annual output exceeding 4,500 metric tons, helping boost stable income for local farmers.
Shangyu honey peaches are grown across 4,000 mu, contributing more than 10 million yuan ($1.4 million) in additional income for fruit growers.
Bayberries from Shangyu's Erdu area, a flagship product in what is known as China's bayberry hub, are planted across an area of 24,765 mu, with yields reaching about 11,670 tons each year.
In recent years, Shaoxing has promoted standardized cultivation to improve product quality, while expanding market visibility through promotional events and regional brand campaigns. The efforts have opened broader market channels for local specialty products.
Shangyu district has also been selected as a national pilot area for the integrated development of specialty farm products, providing a model for citywide brand building.
