During the recent New Year holiday, Shaoxing North Railway Station welcomed its first passenger boom of the year. From Dec 31 to Jan 3, the station handled about 200,000 arrivals and departures, exceeding expectations.
The station was able to smoothly manage the surge in traffic thanks in part to comprehensive regional transport upgrades. On the railway front, nine additional trains operated during the holiday to destinations including Shanghai, Nanjing, and Taizhou, while capacity was doubled on selected routes through the coupling of multiple EMU sets. The newly opened Hangzhou-Quzhou High-Speed Railway also provided passengers with new transfer options to reach Quzhou and other destinations, improving regional connectivity and travel flexibility.
Meanwhile, ground transport was further integrated. Jingshui Road west of the station is undergoing expressway-standard upgrades, and nine newly launched metro feeder bus lines now offer transfers to Metro Line 1. In the future, with the completion of the Hangzhou-Shaoxing Airport High-Speed Railway, the station will also offer "air-rail intermodal" services to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport.
Services within the station have been upgraded in parallel. The McDonald's on the second floor of the waiting hall has reopened. The transfer hall and Terminal 4 building are currently in the investment promotion phase, with plans to introduce diverse amenities including dining, convenience stores, and serviced apartments to further meet passengers' leisure, accommodation, and business needs.
