42nd Lanting Calligraphy Festival kicks off
The 42nd Lanting Calligraphy Festival was held at the Tianzhang Temple Square in Shaoxing's Lanting Scenic Area on April 19, with renowned calligraphy masters and representatives from universities across the country in attendance. Shaoxing has celebrated the Lanting Calligraphy Festival annually on the third day of the third lunar month since its inception in 1985.
This year's Calligraphy Festival emphasized cross-disciplinary integration and digital empowerment. A signing ceremony was held on-site to establish the China Digital Calligraphy and Painting Intellectual Property Trading Center, a collaboration between Shaoxing's Lanting Resort Area and the Shenzhen Cultural Property Exchange. It is China's first digital cultural property trading platform focused on calligraphy and painting.

Various activities such as dance performances and fashion shows were organized to showcase calligraphy-inspired cultural and creative products, promoting the integrated development of culture, commerce, and tourism.
Shaoxing University, together with nine other universities, has established the Alliance for Aesthetic Education in Calligraphy at the opening ceremony, which aims to promote the sharing of courses, faculty, and activities, while exploring ways to integrate aesthetic education in calligraphy with digital technology. Currently, more than 290 universities across China offer calligraphy programs.
