The Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) 8-meter-long calligraphy scroll titled Two Seven-Character Regulated Verses in Running Script by Wang Yangming arrived in Shaoxing on May 11. The scroll was brought back and stored by Xiang Zhifeng, director of the Huamai Calligraphy and Painting Museum, and will be publicly exhibited starting May 21.

The scroll was sold for HK$52 million ($6.7 million) at Christie's 2026 Spring Auction in Hong Kong on April 28, with a final hammer price of HK$63.94 million including commission, setting a new global auction record for Wang's calligraphy works. It is now part of the collection at the Huamai Calligraphy and Painting Museum.

The scroll will be on display from May 21 to Sept 30, positioned in the center of Hall Three on the third floor of the museum. During this period, more than 40 masterpieces of calligraphy and painting by renowned artists from Shaoxing will also be exhibited.

This exhibition coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Huamai Calligraphy and Painting Museum, which is marking the occasion with a year-long special exhibition. Featuring more than 50 selected treasures from its collection, the exhibition is organized into three sections and includes several renowned ancient calligraphy and painting works.
